We have been scouring the independent scene all over the world and have interviewed some of the best and one performer who we have heard a lot about is Adam James. While we had not seen much of James ever since we learnt more about him before and after this interview we realised we have been interviewed a star in the making.

UWR: Where are you from?

James: I was born in Roanoke, VA. Grew up in Hillsville, Va, and currently live in Statesville, NC.

UWR: How old are you ?

James:  I’m 30 years old

UWR: Were you a fan of pro wrestling growing up?

James: I’ve always been a huge fan of wrestling. Started when I was four.

UWR: Where did you train to become a wrestler and who trained you?

James:  I originally started my training with a local wrestling promotion (DPA) that is no longer in business. My trainer was Chad Byrd. Who worked as an enhancement talent for both WCW and then WWF. He was trained by George South.
After completing training I searched out more training with others such as – George South, Abel Adams, Gunner, Rickey Morton, Robert Gibson, Chris Hamrick, Barbarian, Shane Douglas, and Cueball Carmichael.

UWR: Who were some of your influences growing up?

James: My influences while growing up were – Road Warriors, Sting, Arn Anderson, and Jake Roberts.

UWR: Are your friends and family supportive of your pro wrestling career?

James: My family and friends are extremely supportive.

UWR: Im sure like many other wrestlers you remember your first match. So who was it against and what do you remember about it?

James: My first ever match was for the before mentioned DPA company against “Wildman” James Brody or Porkchop Cash Jr as some know him. It was a squash match to break me into the company.
My first competitive match was against Terry Houston for George South’s wrestling promotion.

UWR: For people that have never seen you perform can you describe your character and wrestling style?

James: My character is a baby face that stands up for what is right and never backs down. Always fighting back against any and all opponents. Often coming up just a little short but everyone knows they were in a wrestling match no matter the outcome.

UWR: What is your favourite match you have ever seen?

James: My personal favorite match is actually equal amongst four….

Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania.

Jake Roberts vs Rick Martell (Blind fold match).

Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA (Cage match)

Most recent – Antonio Cesaro vs Sami Zayne 2013 NXT

UWR: In your opinion what is the best match or opponent you have ever had?

James: My best match/opponent – James Drake. Our chemistry is just amazing to me.

UWR: What is your proudest moment from your time in pro wrestling?

James: My proudest moment is a tie between two.
1. Going over seas to Nigeria to perform and having Shane Douglas compliment a match of mine.
2. Having Bobby Eaton tell me that I had match of the night at an Indy event last year.

UWR: Is there anyone that on the Indy scene you would like to wrestle that you have never wrestled before?

James: There are a few that include, but are not limited to – in no certain order –
1. Joseph Black
2. Anthony Henry
3. White Mike
4. Ethan Case
5. Damien Wayne
6. Rob Killjoy
7. Timothy Bumpers
8. Bob Evans
9. Mike Orlando
10. Preston Quinn

UWR: If you could choose any wrestler alive or dead to have a match with who would it be?

James:  Alive – James Storm
Deceased – Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect)

UWR: Are there any promotions that you would like to work for in the future?

James: I work for any promotion I can at least once. Currently hoping to work for PWX.

UWR: What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a Pro Wrestler?

James: Advice I would give to young new comers is simple really – invest in yourself and in your gear. If you aren’t willing to do that, then why would you expect anyone else to invest in you? Don’t be ordinary in an extraordinary business. Stand out and don’t be afraid to ask for advice. When you get the advice/critique – use it and continue to grow. Always try to continue mastering your craft.

UWR: Where can people see you perform next?

James: Follow me on Facebook – Real Adam James_DPA. And on Instagram @RealAdamJames to keep up with events.

UWR: Thank You so much for giving up your time to do this interview.

James: Thank you for reaching out and being patient with me to get back with you on this. I apologize for it taking so long – with knee surgery and other issues in the last few days it’s just been hectic. Either way thanks again. Have a great day.
